I am wearing purple

Thinking of depression as a cycle which we can easily get caught up in helps me to understand how it works. I’ve spent the last year learning how to break that cycle, and how to spot the signs that I’m getting back into it so that I can do something about it before it spirals out of control again.

Taking a few minutes at the end of each day to think about my day, to reflect on the things that happened, how they made me feel. Focus on the things that made me happy, made me smile, things I’m grateful for. This is something that the Mental Health Team suggested to me – try to focus on the things that make me feel good, however small they might be: the warmth of the sun on my face, the blue sky, someone smiling at me.
