Silver’s Word of the Week or Month… PUGILISTIC

That’s a great idea. I start some of my poetry or stories around one word that pops into my head – go for it!

I have been toying with this idea for a while now. I decided that it would be fun to offer a different word each week (or month) with its meaning and use it in a sentence. It will be fun to see if we can incorporate some of these words into our everyday life!

Behold the birth of Silver’s Word of the Week… or Month, whatever the case may be!

For my first week, the word I heard on television (Yes, believe it or not) was:

PUGILISTIC

The root word is pugilist [pyoo-juh-list].

Dictionary.com says a pugilist is someone who fights with their fists, like a boxer. It usually refers to a professional. In this context, the word is a noun.

If someone is pugilistic that suggests to me that the person has a “fighting” nature. In this context, pugilistic is an adjective.
